# Becoming a Member

To become a member of Members Preferred Credit Union, you must live, work, or worship in one of the counties listed below. You can also qualify for membership if an immediate family member is currently a member of the credit union.

# OUR HISTORY

Members Preferred Credit Union is a member-owned, state chartered, and privately-insured financial institution serving a diverse group.

Medical Credit Union was chartered in 1968 to service those in the medical field. Initially we operated out of a basement of another local credit union. The credit union merged with Carpenters Credit Union later changing its name to Medical and Professional Credit Union. The Credit Union continued to grow and merged with Snake River Credit Union, eventually changing our name to Members Preferred Credit Union aka MPCU.

Our goal is the same as when the credit union first began in 1968, to provide excellent financial service to our membership! We aim to keep costs down enabling the credit union to offer low loan rates and pay higher dividend rates.

**Credit card fraud can often be identified and stopped before you’re even aware of it.**

Members Preferred Credit Union is partnered with Falcon. Falcon is on the watch 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year helping prevent the unauthorized use of your card information.

Suspicious card activity may be approved or it may be declined. In either case, Falcon will immediately try to contact you using the home/cell phone number linked to your Members Preferred Credit Union account. The purpose of the call is to verify the suspicious purchase(s). If you cannot answer the call, Falcon will leave a message.

# Falcon’s 24/7 toll-free number is 866-360-2858 

If the phone number left on your voice mail does not match this number, it’s not a legitimate message. Falcon will verify your identity, but they will never ask you for your card number, expiration date of your card or the security code on the back of your card.

If Falcon doesn’t hear back from you within 48 hours of calling, your card will be blocked from use as a precautionary measure. If Falcon has blocked your card, you may call them to un-block it or you may call Members Preferred Credit Union during business hours and we’ll be happy to assist you.

This service is a valuable tool in the fight against fraud. However, in order to benefit from this important service, you must make sure you always maintain current contact information. When you move or change phone numbers, notify us immediately so we can update that information.

## VISA DEBIT CARD AND CREDIT CARD TRAVELING NOTIFICATION/FRAUD SUPPRESSION MONITORING 

## Please contact the credit union prior to traveling. This safeguards our members from any potential unauthorized activity from happening while traveling.
